Remembering Zachary
A life held close in memory
Zachary Michael Drinovsky (March 2, 1989 – July 14, 2024) was a devoted family man whose warmth, steady presence, and love of simple pleasures left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. Born in Waterloo, Iowa, Zach graduated from Hudson High School in 2007 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in manufacturing technology from the University of Northern Iowa in 2011. He built a career at John Deere PEC as a Supply Base Manager, where his practical skills and work ethic were well regarded by colleagues.
Above all roles and accomplishments, Zach was husband to Emily (Oglesbee) Drinovsky and a loving father to their children, Kennedy and Graham. Family was central to Zach’s life — he took joy in shared traditions, cheering at sporting events, and the everyday routines that knit a family together. He also remembered an infant son, Noah, who preceded him in death.
Zach enjoyed the outdoors and activities that connected him to friends and family: hunting, fishing, golfing, riding his motorcycle, and listening to good music. He was an avid sports fan, cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes and other teams, and was known for enjoying a classic cigar on occasions with those closest to him. Those who spent time with Zach recall a man who balanced a full life of responsibilities with an easygoing sense of humor and an open heart for the people around him.
He is survived by his wife Emily and their children, Kennedy and Graham; his parents, Doug and Wendy Drinovsky; siblings Shawn (Amanda) Drinovsky, Ashley (Luke) Beenken, and Blake (Megan) Drinovsky; as well as extended family and many friends who loved him. He was preceded in death by his son Noah and his paternal grandfather, Roger Drinovsky.
A celebration of Zach’s life was held in late July 2024 in Waterloo, where family and friends gathered to remember his kindness, his laugh, and the ways he made life brighter for those around him. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that memorials be directed to them.
Zach’s memory lives on in the children he adored, the family moments he treasured, and the small, meaningful ways he showed care to others. Those who loved him remember a man who made ordinary days better and whose absence is deeply felt.
