Obituary

A formal remembrance

Xavier Le'Keith "Zay" Lott was a young man who carried affection and humor into every room he entered. A native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and a resident of Georgia, Xavier was known to family and friends as "Zay" and "Slim." He is remembered for the warmth he shared with those closest to him and the small, meaningful ways he showed he cared.

Xavier’s family honored his personal wishes and the details of his farewell reflected the colors he loved most — black, cyan-blue and teal. Visitation was held at Van Hoose & Steele Funeral Home, with a funeral service at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa and a gathering to celebrate his life at the Tuscaloosa Fraternal Order of Police Lodge. The family requested that his image not be used on shirts, a personal preference asked to be respected as they mourned.

Those who spoke at his service included family members and faith leaders who knew him — among them, his uncle, Reverend Marcus Donald, who offered words of encouragement. Family and friends gathered to share memories, to grieve together, and to honor the life of a man who mattered deeply to those around him.

Xavier’s passing leaves a space in the hearts of his loved ones. In the days that followed his transition on January 8, 2026, family and community came together to remember his laughter, his presence, and the small comforts he brought to daily life. He is held in loving memory by those who called him Zay.
