William Glynne Rummage II

William Glynne “Glynne” Rummage II, 31, of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away July 8, 2018. Born November 21, 1986 in Maury County, Glynne was known to family and friends for his quiet strength, strong work ethic, and easygoing presence.

A 2005 graduate of Columbia Central High School, where he played football, Glynne moved into the working world with determination. He spent time with Amber Electric, drove as a long-distance trucker for Werner Enterprises, and later owned and operated Rummage Property Management. Those who knew him remember a man who took pride in his work and cared about doing a task well.

Glynne enjoyed the outdoors and cherished time spent with family at local events; childhood memories of attending tractor pulls with his father were among the things he loved most. He was a loyal son to his mother, Laura Jane Rummage, and a devoted brother to Nelia Lynne Gibson. He is also remembered by extended family members who treasured his steady, familiar presence at family gatherings.

Family comforted one another in the days after his passing and held services to celebrate his life. Funeral services were conducted at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with burial at Polk Memorial Gardens. He was preceded in death by his father, William Glynne “Billy Glynne” Rummage, and several grandparents; he is survived by his mother, sister, half-brother, nieces, nephews, and many loving relatives and friends.

Glynne’s life mattered to those who knew him. He is remembered not for the manner of his death but for the roles he filled — son, brother, friend, and small-business owner — and for the simple, everyday ways he showed up for the people who loved him.
