Remembering William
A life held close in memory
William Arthur “Bill” Eissinger was born December 4, 1947, in Fresno, California, the youngest child of Arnold H. and Hazel (Croy) Eissinger. He spent his early years in Paso Robles before the family moved to Chico in 1963. Bill graduated from Chico High School in 1965 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Chico State College in 1970.
A natural in sales, Bill owned a car sales business in Chico during the 1970s and later worked in RV sales both locally and for a time in Petaluma. He retired in 2011. Friends remembered him as trustworthy, loyal and humorous — a man who cared deeply for others and whose kindness was evident in everyday moments.
Bill loved the arts and music, especially jazz, and found restoration and quiet joy in the outdoors. He spent many hours hiking, biking and swimming in Bidwell Park, appreciating the simple pleasures of the landscape he loved. Those who knew him recall his gentle manner and his devotion to family and friends.
He is survived by his sister, Susan Eissinger of Corning; his brother, Richard Eissinger of Cedar City, Utah; cousin Judy Croy of Berry Creek; and six nieces and nephews. Family and friends gathered to celebrate his life at a memorial service held in Chico.
Bill’s life was defined by quiet generosity, a love of beauty in art and nature, and steady friendship. He will be remembered by those who loved him for the warmth and loyalty he gave so freely.
