Remembering Wilburt

A life held close in memory

Wilburt “Wily Jack” B. Jordan Jr. was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on January 23, 1993. Raised by his parents, Wilburt Jordan Sr. and Tabatha Hill, and lovingly influenced from a young age by Jerome Hill as a father figure, Wilburt grew into a warm, lively presence for family and friends. He spent his early years in the Bridgeport public schools before continuing his education in the Stratford school system, where classmates remembered his cheerful personality and quick sense of humor.

A hardworking young man, Wilburt held a number of jobs over the years, working with employers including Amazon, the Salvation Army, and Walmart. Those roles reflected his steady work ethic and his desire to provide for and be present with the people he loved. Family was central to Wilburt’s life; he is remembered as someone who cared deeply for relatives and had a special affection for children.

Outside of work, Wilburt had passions that brought him joy and helped define his everyday life. From the age of seven he loved riding dirt bikes, an interest that remained an important part of his life. He also enjoyed skating, playing video games, and watching scary movies — often playfully quoting lines that made those around him laugh. He took pride in his appearance and had a particular fondness for sneakers and style, which reflected an eye for detail and self-expression.

Those who knew Wilburt recall his humor and his easy ability to lift the mood in a room. Though public records and memorial listings provide limited details, the available accounts point to a young man surrounded by an extended family — his parents, seven sisters, and a brother — who valued connection, shared moments, and the small pleasures of daily life.

Wilburt passed away on September 12, 2023. His funeral service took place on September 20, 2023 at Cathedral of Praise C.O.G.I.C. International in Bridgeport, with interment at Lakeview Cemetery. The loss left a deep void for family and friends who remember him for his laughter, his kindness, and the distinctive interests that made him who he was. Though public records cannot capture every private memory, those details that remain show a man whose life mattered to many — a son, sibling, friend, and a person with passions that brightened ordinary days.
