Vivian Delois McClain

Vivian Delois Randall-McClain — known to family as “Pookie” — lived a life of quiet devotion to family, food, and faith. Born January 9, 1956, in Anniston, Alabama, she grew up in Bellport, New York, where she finished high school and carried with her a strong work ethic and a love for caring for others. Over the years Vivian moved where family needs and opportunity took her: to North Little Rock, Arkansas in 1984 and later to Killeen, Texas in 2018.

Cooking and the culinary arts were central to Vivian’s life. She built a career in the food industry and became a certified dietitian, bringing nourishment, creativity, and care to countless meals she prepared for family, friends, and the community. Her creative eye extended beyond the kitchen — she enjoyed arranging flowers for loved ones and took pleasure in making ordinary moments feel special.

Family was everything to Vivian. She married Robert Lee McClain, Jr., and together they raised two children, Toni Thompson and Robert Lee McClain III. She also lovingly raised her great-nephew, Jacori Vinson, as her own. Vivian’s household included many grandchildren and extended relatives who remember her as warm, outspoken in her opinions, and unfailingly generous. She is remembered by siblings, children, grandchildren, and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, and cousins who treasured her presence.

A devoted Christian, Vivian’s faith was a steady source of comfort and purpose. Friends and family recall her as compassionate and hardworking, someone who never met a stranger and who offered hospitality and kindness freely. Her life touched people across several states and generations — from Long Island to Little Rock to Killeen — and her influence lives on in the memories and traditions she helped create.

A visitation and funeral service were arranged for early September 2024 to allow family and friends to gather, share stories, and celebrate Vivian’s life. Those who loved her remember a woman of big heart and creative spirit whose legacy is carried forward by the family she devoted herself to and the many small acts of care she offered throughout her life.
