Obituary
A formal remembrance
Tyler Jacoby Lawrence, age 13, brought joy to everyone who knew him. A seventh-grade student at Coakley Middle School in Norwood, Tyler loved basketball, music, and video games. He was the only child of his mother, Remy E. Lawrence, and a cherished grandson to Stanley and the late Carol Lawrence and to Deborah Majors. Known for his quick smile and lively sense of humor, Tyler enjoyed spending weekends with his grandparents in Mattapan, where he felt at home and free to play and laugh. He was beloved by classmates, teachers, and a wide circle of friends and relatives who remember him as a bright and promising young person.
Family and community gathered to celebrate Tyler’s life and to offer support to one another in grief. A memorial service was arranged at Twelfth Baptist Church in Roxbury, where those who loved him shared memories, stories, and the small kindnesses that defined his presence. In honor of Tyler’s interests and the spirit he showed every day, the family requested that memorial donations be made to youth-focused programs that foster positive development and opportunities for play and learning.
Though his life was far too short, Tyler’s warmth, energy, and the love he inspired remain with his family and community. He is remembered not for the manner of his death but for the light he brought into ordinary days: the ball games, the music, the laughter, and the companionship of weekend visits with grandparents. Tyler is loved and missed every day, forever.
