Remembering Tina
A life held close in memory
Tina Gail Griswold of Lacey, Washington, passed away on November 29, 2009, at the age of 40. Born January 28, 1969, in Port Angeles to Stan and Geneva DeLong, Tina found her calling in public service and in caring for others.
She began her career in law enforcement as a dispatcher with the Shelton Police Department before serving as an officer with both the Lacey Police Department and, beginning in 2004, the Lakewood Police Department. Tina took pride in her work and was known to those she helped as steady, compassionate, and committed to community safety.
Family was central to Tina’s life. She is remembered by her husband, Paul, and by her children Nicole and Marcus, along with siblings Tom, Tammy, Teresa, and Tiffany. Those who knew her speak of a woman who loved her family deeply and who approached her duties with quiet dedication.
A memorial service was held on December 8, 2009, at the Tacoma Dome, where colleagues, friends, and family gathered to honor her life and service. In remembering Tina, loved ones recalled a caring mother and a committed officer whose presence brightened the lives of those around her.
Tina’s life reflected years of devotion to both her family and her community. Though her time was far too short, the kindness she showed and the service she gave are lasting parts of her legacy.
