Their life, in the words of those who remember
The story of Thomas Randall Dennis
Thomas “Randy” Randall Dennis was a man defined by his devotion to family, a strong work ethic, and a talent for making people laugh. Born June 24, 1967 in Columbus, Georgia, Randy grew up in Manchester and graduated from Manchester High School in 1985. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Business in Accounting from West Georgia College, where he met Leanne, the love of his life. They married at Roswell Methodist Church and spent nearly three decades building a life together, raising two daughters, Rachel and Amanda.
Randy built a distinguished career in public service and finance. A certified public accountant, he served in senior financial roles for the state of Georgia, including Chief Financial Officer for the Administrative Office of the Courts and later as Deputy Executive Director & Chief Financial Officer for the Teachers Retirement System of Georgia. Colleagues and friends remember him as a sharp, principled professional who also found time to give back through board service with organizations such as the Georgia United Credit Union.
Outside of work Randy’s warmth was evident in everything he did. He loved the outdoors — hunting, fishing, and playing golf — and he cheered heartily for the Georgia Bulldogs. He was known for a quick wit and a ready sense of humor, and he enjoyed entertaining and telling stories around a fireside. Music was another joy; friends recall Randy as an accomplished drummer who would happily play for any audience.
Family remained at the center of Randy’s life. He was a devoted husband and proud father who took pleasure in shared adventures with his wife and daughters. Survived by his wife Leanne, daughters Rachel and Amanda (and their extended families), and siblings, Randy’s influence lives on through the many people who valued his kindness, humor, and steady presence.
Randy’s passing in July 2020 was a profound loss to his family and community. While public records show the date of death reported in some memorial listings differs by a day from other public sources, the picture that endures is of a loving husband and father, a committed professional, and a friend who brought laughter and generosity to those around him. He is remembered for his warmth, his love of life, and the stories and music he shared — a life held close in memory by family and friends.
