Obituary

A formal remembrance

Terrance Jamon “Tootie” Scott was a lively young man who loved the simple joys of life: spending afternoons outdoors, playing football in his early teens, and enjoying time with family and friends. Born January 10, 2004, to Esha Scott of Houma and Phillip Jones of Gibson, Terrance grew up surrounded by relatives who remember him for his good manners, his ready smile, and the way he embraced life with enthusiasm.

Terrance enjoyed fishing and riding four-wheelers, pastimes that connected him to the Louisiana landscape he loved. He also played video games with friends and cousins, especially on his PS5, and those quieter moments together were as much a part of his life as his time on the field. Family and community members recall a young man who was well-liked throughout the area and who brought energy and companionship to those around him.

A celebration of Terrance’s life was held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Siracusaville Recreation Center in Morgan City, Louisiana, where family and friends gathered to remember him and share stories of his life. He was laid to rest at St. James Cemetery in Gibson, surrounded by loved ones.

Terrance’s passing at the age of 20 was mourned by his family and the wider community. Survivors include his mother, Esha Scott, his father, Phillip Jones, and many cousins and relatives who loved him. Those who knew Terrance remember his warmth, his love of outdoor adventure, and the easy companionship he offered to friends and family alike.

Though his time was brief, Terrance made a meaningful impression on those around him. He is remembered not only for the activities he enjoyed, but for the affection he showed his family and friends. May his memory be a comfort to those who loved him and a reminder of the bright, human life he lived.
