Terrance Jones

Terrance Leighton Jones, 43, of Jackson, Mississippi, passed away on May 10, 2023. Born May 29, 1979, to Tommie Lee Jones and Bettye Carmack Jones, Terrance was known to those close to him for his dependable nature and quiet loyalty.

For many years Terrance worked in restaurant kitchens in the Jackson area, most recently at the IHOP on Highway 18, where co-workers remember him as a skilled cook and a steady presence. Coworkers and managers described him as loyal and hardworking, someone whose contributions in the kitchen were respected and appreciated by the team.

Family was important to Terrance. He was a beloved son who spoke often with his mother; in the weeks after his passing she and others recalled moments that showed his affection and gratitude. In early June 2023, family, friends, and co-workers gathered for a balloon release and a time of prayer and song to honor his life and the relationships he nurtured.

Services to celebrate Terrance’s life were arranged by Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation was held at Westhaven with a family hour, and funeral services took place at Zion Chapel Church of God in Christ in Bolton, Mississippi, followed by burial in Bolton City Cemetery. Those events offered space for loved ones to share memories, offer comfort, and acknowledge the steady, human presence Terrance brought into the lives of those around him.

Terrance’s life mattered to his family, friends, and colleagues. Though his passing was sudden, the remembrances offered by those who knew him emphasize a simple, meaningful legacy: he cared for others in everyday ways, worked with skill and commitment, and was cherished by the people closest to him.
