Remembering Teresa
A life held close in memory
Teresa “T” Ann Bowman, 64, of Hickory, brought light and lively spirit to everyone who knew her. Born September 26, 1959, Teresa was often called “T” or “T‑Bird” by friends and family — a playful reflection of a woman who approached life with passion, quick wit, and a readiness to make others smile.
Teresa’s deep love for animals was central to who she was. She cared for and advocated on behalf of animals throughout her life, asking only that others treat them with kindness and compassion. That love inspired the family’s request that, in her memory, people consider volunteering at animal rescues or simply reach out to someone who might need a friend — small acts of care that would have meant a great deal to her.
Family was important to Teresa. She is survived by her sisters, Sandra “San” Bailey and Cynthia Bowman; her nieces Amanda Ward and Brittany Bailey; and a wide circle of cousins and friends who treasured her for her humor and loyalty. Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Kenneth Bowman and Shirley Shook Bowman, and by the many kitties who shared her life over the years.
The Bowman family has expressed gratitude for the courage of those who came to Teresa’s aid and for the community’s sympathy and support. A private celebration of her life was held by the family. In remembering Teresa, those who loved her recall her vivacity, her sharp sense of humor, and the simple, generous ways she showed care — qualities that will remain in the memories of all who knew her.
