Remembering Tavion
A life held close in memory
Tavion Lamont Taylor, affectionately called “Tavi” or “Tay,” was remembered for his generous heart, easy humor, and devotion to family. Born December 8, 2002, in Indianapolis, Tavion grew up on the city’s west side and graduated from Ben Davis High School. He worked alongside his brothers in his father’s landscaping business and found joy in practical crafts—detailing cars, barbering, and caring for others’ yards. He was also an aspiring architect who loved imagining and building — a reflection of his practical creativity and forward-looking spirit.
Tavion’s family and friends recall a gentle giant with a protective streak, someone who turned up for birthdays, holidays, and everyday moments. He delighted in food and laughter, was known for his playful “tree jokes,” and carried a steady willingness to help—whether cutting grass, fixing a car, or offering support to those close to him. He loved skating and grilling, and took pride in skills that made him both useful and beloved in his circle.
Most of all, Tavion cherished his role as a father. His daughter, Za’Ryah Lanai Dominique Taylor (born October 27, 2022), was described as the center of his joy. His devotion to family—his parents, siblings, cousins, and extended relatives—formed the heart of his life and how many will remember him: loyal, present, and warm.
Tavion was preceded in death by beloved relatives mentioned by his family. He was called to rest on January 25, 2024, at age twenty-one. Those who knew him remember his laughter, his willingness to help, and the bright energy he brought to gatherings. Though his life was far too brief, Tavion’s kindness, creativity, and love for his daughter and family leave a lasting impression on those who loved him.
