Remembering Sheryl

A life held close in memory

Sheryl Ann Epling Ward (October 12, 1956 – September 3, 2021) brought warmth and joy to those around her. Born in Charleston, West Virginia, Sheryl built a life defined by care and compassion. A devoted nurse by calling, she worked in many settings over the years and was employed by BAYADA Home Health, where she cared tenderly for a child with special needs she loved dearly.

Family and friends remember Sheryl for a larger-than-life personality: she laughed readily, approached life with eager curiosity, and offered steady support to those she loved. She was the daughter of the late Ray and Juanita Epling and is survived by her daughter, Crystal Milan of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a sister, Brenda Epling Bunner (Mark) of Greenville, South Carolina, and a brother, Ron Epling (Dawn) of Easley, South Carolina, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored her.

Sheryl’s faith was important to her, and those who loved her take comfort in believing she is at peace with her Lord and Savior. The family has asked that, in lieu of a formal funeral, friends gather privately when the time is right to share memories and celebrate the joy she brought into so many lives. Arrangements were entrusted to Triad Cremation and Funeral Service of Greensboro, North Carolina.

Sheryl lived with enthusiasm and an open heart. Though her time ended too soon, the warmth she offered—through her nursing, her laughter, and her devotion to family—remains a lasting and cherished legacy.
