Remembering Sherron

A life held close in memory

Sherron Delafose, 54, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away on August 8, 2024. Born August 14, 1969, in Lake Charles to Rodney and Audrey (Gradney) Delafose, Sherron was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend whose home was a place of care and comfort for those closest to her.

Sherron worked as a Carrier Relations Specialist for Zelis Healthcare and took pride in providing steady support for her family. She delighted in cooking traditional Cajun meals and enjoyed shopping for fashion and boots, small pleasures that reflected her warm, nurturing nature.

Her daughter, Ajani Nicole Gurvin, and her granddaughter, Aniyah Nicole Walker of Woodstock, Georgia, were central to her life. She is also survived by siblings, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends who cherished her friendship and generous spirit.

Sherron was preceded in death by her parents, Rodney and Audrey Delafose, and her sister Sheila Williams. Family and friends gathered to honor her memory with visitation and funeral services held at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Lake Charles.

Those who knew Sherron remember her as a steady, caring presence whose kindness and dedication to family left a lasting impression. Her memory lives on through the loved ones she supported and the many quiet, everyday ways she showed love.
