A formal remembrance

Shelly Autumn Mae Moon (July 23, 2004 – February 10, 2021) brought joy and a giving spirit to family, school, and community. Known to friends and relatives as “Lil Shelly,” she was a student at Fortuna High School and worked at Loleta Elementary School, where she took pride in helping children and participating in the after-school program. Music and time with family and friends were among her simple pleasures, and those who knew her remember a young woman who laughed easily, offered help without hesitation, and cared deeply for those around her.

Shelly was born in Eureka, California, and grew up surrounded by family. She was the daughter of Margarette Lee Moon and Johnny George and is survived by siblings and extended relatives who treasured her presence in their lives. Family and friends recall her as ambitious, kind-hearted, and always ready to lend a hand. Her generosity and bright smile left a lasting impression on classmates, coworkers, and neighbors.

Though her life was far too short, Shelly made meaningful contributions to her community through her work with children and her daily acts of compassion. Those who worked with her at Loleta Elementary remember her enthusiasm for supporting students and being part of their school days. Her family has described her as loving and someone who made an impact on everyone she met.

Shelly’s memory lives on in the stories, laughter, and remembrances shared by family and friends. She will be remembered for her warmth, her helpful nature, and the love she carried for those close to her. In honoring Shelly, her community remembers not only the bright young woman she was but also the care she showed others every day.
