Shannon Dwayne Bridges, a lifelong Akron resident, was born January 19, 1979. Those who loved him remember a man who valued family above all else and who found joy in being surrounded by friends and relatives. He attended Akron Public Schools and remained closely connected to his neighborhood and community throughout his life.

Shannon was a beloved son to Carmela Bridges and a brother to Lawrence Bridges and his twin brother, Shawn Bridges. He is also remembered as a devoted father to his son, Sahntay Sincere Bridges, and as a caring presence to extended family members including his aunt Eleanor Bridges, nephew Lawrence (Monty) Bridges Jr., and many cousins and friends who held him dear. His family described him as someone who will be forever cherished and whose memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Services were arranged through Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home in Akron. A service was held December 17, 2012, with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. The family invited condolences to be sent to the home at 641 Bellevue Ave., reflecting the close ties Shannon maintained with his neighborhood and loved ones.

He is survived by his mother, Carmela Bridges; brothers Lawrence and Shawn Bridges; his son Sahntay Sincere Bridges; aunt Eleanor Bridges; nephew Lawrence (Monty) Bridges Jr.; special friend Lishella “Duck” Weiss; and a wide circle of aunts, cousins and friends.
