Remembering Shaleek

A life held close in memory

Shaleek Jaqwon Williams was born February 3, 1998, and raised in Rowan County, North Carolina. A 2017 graduate of Salisbury High School, Shaleek became part of the fabric of his hometown — known to those who knew him as a family-centered young man and a steady presence in his community. After high school he went on to work at Chewy, where he advanced to a lead position, demonstrating responsibility and commitment in his work.

Family was central to Shaleek’s life. Public memorial listings and funeral arrangements identify his mother, Kim Williams, and a large extended family who survive him, including children and siblings. Local notices show the family chose Noble & Kelsey Funeral Home in Salisbury to assist with services; a visitation and funeral service were held in late April 2024 at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church.

Shaleek’s life mattered to many: parents, children, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends are named in memorial pages and funeral notices that followed his death. While public reporting records the tragic circumstances of his passing on April 13, 2024, those closest to him remembered a young man whose everyday roles — as a son, a parent, a worker, and a member of the Salisbury community — defined him more than the manner of his death.

This remembrance honors Shaleek as a person of relationships and responsibilities. Where public details are limited, they nonetheless point to a life rooted in family and community. He is remembered by those who loved him and by a community marked by the loss of a twenty-six-year-old whose presence mattered in many ordinary, meaningful ways.

Shaleek was gone far too soon. May the love, memories, and moments connected to this life continue to be treasured, and may those mourning find comfort in remembering what mattered most.
