Remembering Shaina

A life held close in memory

Shaina Britt Underwood of Rome, Georgia, was born September 10, 1989, and passed from this life on November 6, 2021. Shaina was a beloved daughter, sister and mother whose family-centered spirit shaped the lives of those closest to her. She is remembered by her parents, Mark Underwood and Penny Martin Stephens, and by her grandmother Jewel Martin. Shaina treasured her children — Zoe Taylor, K.J. Darden, Sky Underwood, and London Spaulding — who were at the center of her world.

Shaina grew up in Rome and was known to family and friends for the quiet strength she brought to daily life. She kept close ties with her siblings Richey Underwood, Mason Underwood, and Tesla Underwood, and drew comfort from close family connections and long-standing community bonds. Her life reflected the ordinary, meaningful commitments of parenthood and family that often go unseen but are deeply felt by those she loved.

Funeral services were held at Good Shepherd Funeral Home on November 16, 2021, with visitation the evening before. She was laid to rest at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. In remembering Shaina, family requested that friends honor her memory by keeping her children and loved ones in their thoughts and prayers.

Shaina’s life mattered to the people who knew her best. While public records note the tragic circumstances of her passing, those who loved her remember her first and foremost for her role as a mother and family member. Her memory lives on in her children and in the quiet, everyday ways she touched the lives of those around her.

Shaina was gone far too soon. May the love, memories, and moments connected to this life continue to be treasured, and may those mourning find comfort in remembering what mattered most.
