Obituary
A formal remembrance
Sean Amone (May 16, 2001–June 6, 2021) brought light and laughter to family and friends throughout his life in Rose Park, Salt Lake City. Born and raised in the neighborhood, Sean was known within his circle as a jokester with a generous heart — someone who made ordinary moments feel livelier and who treasured time with siblings, cousins, and friends.
Sean attended West High School where he shared many of the rites of passage of young adulthood with classmates and teammates. Family members describe him as kind and loving, a young man who loved being around people and who carried a ready smile. He was close to his parents, Siaosi Vea and Mautoatasi Ieremia Amone, and deeply connected to a wide extended family who remember him with affection.
Those who gathered to honor Sean spoke of the everyday things that defined him: his laughter, the way he could lighten a room, and the care he showed for the young people in his life. He is survived by his parents and by sisters and brothers who loved him fiercely. In the weeks following his passing, family and friends held services to celebrate his life and the relationships he nurtured.
Sean’s life, though tragically short, mattered profoundly to those who knew him. His family asks that his memory be honored through kindness toward others and by holding close the shared moments that made him who he was. He will be remembered by his community in Rose Park for the warmth he offered to family and friends and for the bright spirit he shared with those around him.
