Obituary

A formal remembrance

Sandra “Sandy” Sue Nelson of Formoso, Kansas, lived a life grounded in family, community, and steady dedication to her work. Born August 11, 1961, in Superior, Nebraska, Sandy graduated from Superior High School in 1979 and continued her studies at Cloud County Community College. She and her husband, Kendall Nelson, married on October 16, 1982, and raised two sons together. Family was central to Sandy’s life; those who knew her remember a reliable, warm presence who took pride in her home and relationships.

Sandy built a respected career as a grain merchandiser with Agrex Inc. in Superior, where she was known not only for her professional skill but for the friendships she formed across the workplace. Co-workers described her as committed to her job and to the people she worked with, someone who enjoyed the day-to-day rhythms of small-town life and the practical, important work of the agricultural community.

Beyond her employment, Sandy kept close ties to the region where she grew up. Her roots in Superior and the surrounding towns were reflected in long-standing relationships and community involvement over the years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Maxine Hall, and is remembered by family and friends who treasured her steady kindness and sense of responsibility.

Sandy’s family and community continue to honor her memory. In the years after her passing, neighbors and local organizations have worked to remember the lives lost and celebrate those who made Superior and Formoso home. Those who loved Sandy recall her as a person who cared deeply for her family and for the community where she lived and worked.

Her life — the daily acts of care, the years of steady work, and the bonds she formed with family and neighbors — is what many will carry forward in remembrance.
