Ronnie Charles Damon

Ronnie Charles Damon was born March 2, 1986, in Ocala, Florida, and lived much of his life in Marion County. A proud former corrections officer who rose to the rank of corporal with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Ronnie was known by those close to him for his dependable, hardworking nature and commitment to providing for his family.

Ronnie treasured his role as a father to his daughter, Kaylin Marie Damon, and was a loving son to Gary and Sandy Damon. He is also remembered by his sisters, Carrie Damon Kelley and Sandra Lynn Damon. Family ties were central to Ronnie’s life; he remained close with relatives and took comfort in the communities where he grew up.

Colleagues and neighbors recall Ronnie’s willingness to help others and his steady presence in everyday moments—whether working on a project, sharing a conversation, or looking after the people he loved. After serving with Marion County corrections from December 2007 until October 2014, he stepped away from the department to pursue other ambitions, but his years of service left a mark on those who worked alongside him.

A memorial service was held on January 11, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Fort McCoy, where family and friends gathered to celebrate Ronnie’s life. In place of flowers, the family suggested donations to the First Baptist Church of Fort McCoy or Hospice of Marion County, reflecting the family’s wish that remembrance be accompanied by support for community care.

Ronnie’s life mattered to those who knew him—his role as a father, his commitment to family, and his steady, caring presence are how he is remembered. Though his life was cut far too short, the memory of his warmth and dedication endures in the hearts of his loved ones.
