Remembering Roger

A life held close in memory

Roger Darren Fryer, age 49, of Antioch, Tennessee, passed away May 17, 2015. Born August 1, 1965, in Nashville, Roger was known to family and friends for a generous heart, an outgoing nature, and a readiness to help those in need. He carried a zest for life that came through in his love of motorcycles, dirt bikes and 4-wheelers, and the simple pleasure he took in watching his favorite racer, Jeff Gordon.

A loving father and brother, Roger cherished time with his daughter and extended family. He is survived by his daughter, Candace DeLayne Fryer; step-daughters Heather Jenkins and Kristen Barnes; sisters Diane, Michelle, Marilyn and Melody Fryer; brothers Billy, David, Michael and Jimmy Fryer; and a granddaughter, Kinsley, along with many nieces and nephews who remember his warmth and humor.

Family and friends honored Roger’s life with a celebration at Cornerstone Church in Madison, where those who loved him gathered to share memories of his kindness, his lively stories and the practical ways he showed he cared. Though his passing was sudden, those who knew him recall a man who—despite occasional rough edges—gave what he had to help someone else and who found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful.

Roger’s memory lives on in the family moments, rides and shared laughter he left behind. May his friends and loved ones find comfort in those memories and in the knowledge that his life mattered deeply to those who knew him.
