Remembering Ralph

A life held close in memory

Ralph Arnold Green, Sr., passed from this life on October 20, 2013. Born December 15, 1949, in Baltimore, Maryland, Ralph grew into a man of quiet loyalty and steady service to others. From a young age he expressed a strong dedication to learning and country — graduating high school early and later serving honorably in the United States Army.

A skilled and thoughtful person, Ralph’s career included work as a computer programmer early on and later as a law-enforcement professional in San Diego. He served his community as a patrol officer with the San Diego Police Department, worked as a police officer at San Diego City College, and provided security at local businesses. Those roles reflected his commitment to public safety and to helping others feel secure.

Family was central to Ralph’s life. He accepted faith at Unity Baptist Church and was affectionately known as “Boo” by those closest to him. Ralph is remembered by his children, including daughter Chanel and son Sidney, sons Ralph Jr., Damon, Brian, and Paul, and by brothers and an extended circle of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who carried his memory forward. He valued education, attending San Diego City College and San Diego State University, and he took pride in both his athletic and academic accomplishments in his earlier years.

Ralph’s life was marked by service — to his family, to his community, and to his country. Those who knew him recall a dependable presence and deep ties to family and faith. He is lovingly remembered by those he leaves behind, and his memory remains a part of the community he served.
