Raheem Rashad McCall was born July 27, 1992, in Florence, South Carolina. From his earliest days he was rooted in family and faith, growing up participating in the life of Living Word Church of Deliverance in Parsley, Virginia. Raheem completed his schooling in Florence and graduated from Northampton High School in Eastville, Virginia, in June 2011. With a steady focus on learning a trade, he later enrolled at The Barber College in Nashville to train in a skilled profession he hoped to build upon.
Those who knew Raheem remember a young man who cared for his family and kept strong ties to those closest to him. He was the son of Wendy Washington and Kenneth McCall, and he treasured his relationships with siblings and extended family. Raheem was engaged to Ciara Collins, a relationship noted with love by family and friends. He also carried the memory of his brother Cedric Robinson among those who preceded him in death.
Raheem’s faith and willingness to serve in his church community were important parts of his life. He committed himself to his beliefs as a child and remained connected to the congregation that helped shape him. As a student at barber college he pursued steady, practical goals and the hope of establishing a life and career in Nashville.
Raheem died on December 22, 2012, in Nashville, Tennessee. Though his life was cut far too short, those who loved him remember his devotion to family, his quiet faith, and his determination to learn a trade that could support his future. His memory lives on in the hearts of his parents, siblings, fiancé, and the many relatives and friends who called him son, brother, and friend.
