Remembering Osjahnique

A life held close in memory

Osjahnique Eugia Nicole Giles was born March 4, 2000, in Columbus, Ohio, and is remembered for a lively spirit, quick wit, and deep love for her daughter, My’Layah. A 2018 graduate of Linden-McKinley High School, Osjahnique dreamed of continuing her education and becoming a nurse. She delighted in dancing, cheering, and creating videos with younger cousins — small, everyday joys she shared with those closest to her.

Family meant everything to Osjahnique. She was a devoted mother who worked to provide for little My’Layah and took pride in the role. Friends and relatives recall her as funny and vibrant, someone whose presence could brighten a room. Her life was rooted in her Columbus community, where she grew up, learned, and laughed with siblings, cousins, and longtime friends.

Taken from her family on December 14, 2020, at the age of 20, Osjahnique’s passing left a profound void among those who loved her. She is survived by her daughter My’Layah Adore Nicole Gordon; her mother, Stephanie Giles; her father, Eugene Summerville; siblings and extended family who cherish her memory. Her family remembers the small, loving ways she lived — the jokes she told, the dances she loved, and the care she showed for others.

Though her time was far too short, Osjahnique’s warmth and the care she gave to her child and family endure in their memories. Her life is honored by those who carry her laughter forward and by the community that continues to remember her with love.
