In loving memory of
Novie Baney
July 22, 1981 — November 10, 2014
Novie "Buck" Baney was a devoted father and a quick-witted, generous presence in the Mountain Grove/Graff community, known for lakeside days with his children and teaching his son how to run heavy equipment.
Remembering Novie
A life held close in memory
Novie Eugene “Buck” Baney, 33, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, brought laughter, loyalty, and a generous spirit to those who knew him. Born July 22, 1981, in Houston, Missouri, Buck loved family time above all — especially outings at the lake with his children. He delighted in teaching his son, J.T., how to operate heavy equipment and took pleasure in small adventures with his nieces and nephews, whether fishing or just running around together. He had a playful streak and a ready sense of humor that could lift a room.
Buck was remembered as outgoing and giving: stubborn in his ways but quick to help anyone who treated his family with respect. He took pride in spoiling the younger family members and in being a steady, hands‑on presence for his children, Addy, Kenzee, and J.T. Those who loved him recall his honesty, his ability to make people laugh, and his loyalty to family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nova Gene and Janet Diane Baney, and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Buck is survived by his wife, Dena; his children, Addy, Kenzee, and J.T.; his brother Randy Creed and wife Jennifer; his sisters Candy Cooper (Michael), Nora Means (Richard), and Thelma Baney; nine nieces and nephews; and a wide circle of family and friends whose lives he touched.
Friends and family will have an opportunity to gather and celebrate Buck’s life: visitation was held at the funeral chapel on Thursday evening, November 13, followed by graveside services at Green Mountain Cemetery on Friday morning, November 14. Those who knew him remember a man who would give the shirt off his back, who loved to joke and cut up, and who made ordinary moments — a day at the lake, a lesson on a machine, a fishing trip with a nephew — into lasting memories.
Though his life ended far too soon, Novie “Buck” Baney is remembered for his warmth, his laughter, and the quiet, practical ways he loved his family. He will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
