Obituary
A formal remembrance
Nathan Lamont Rainey Jr. was a man whose life centered on family, faith and a passionate love of music. Born July 15, 1993, to Nathan and Demetria Rainey Sr., Nate grew up in the El Dorado community and was active in church life from an early age. He accepted Christ in childhood at Sweet Canaan Missionary Baptist Church and later was baptized at New Eastside Missionary Baptist Church, where he took part in youth activities and the music ministry.
Music was Nathan’s true calling. He could often be found behind a drum set, tinkering with speakers, or working on beats and tracks as he taught himself the tools of production. Rap and rhythm inspired him, and he poured his creativity into an unfinished project titled "In the Name of Dedd," dedicated to his late brother. That work stands as a testament to his determination to honor family through art.
The arrival of his son, Kingston Amari Rainey, on August 21, 2017, brought Nathan immense joy. Friends and family remember the fierce bond between father and son — Kingston was Nate’s constant companion, his best friend and motivator. Nathan’s devotion as a father remained one of the most defining and tender parts of his life.
He graduated from the El Dorado Public School District in 2011 and carried with him the warmth of community ties throughout his life. Nathan is survived by his son, Kingston Amari Rainey (Brittany Champion); his parents, Nathan and Demetria Rainey Sr.; sisters Monique Greer, Jalisa Williams, Natrecia Rainey and Ty'Isha Agans; brothers Ricco Rainey Jr., Derrick Ford and Shaquille Kimble; and grandparents and many cherished extended family members and friends who called him brother and confidant.
Nathan answered the call to rest on August 6, 2022. Those who loved him remember his creativity, his devotion to his son, and the gentle faith that guided him. His music, his memory, and the love he gave to family remain with those who cherish him.
