Remembering Nathan

A life held close in memory

Nathan Allen Carroll, 18, of Mansfield, Ohio, was a warm and determined young man who devoted himself to family and the future he was working to create. Born June 15, 2004, in Mansfield, Nathan placed great value on family ties and took pride in building a foundation that would endure for those he loved.

As a student at Connections Academy, Nathan balanced his schooling with a clear goal: to become a real estate investor. He was already taking steps toward that dream and celebrated meaningful milestones with his loved ones — notably surprising his sister Tayla with her first home on Mother’s Day, an act remembered by family as a generous and lasting gift. Nathan also treasured the everyday joys of family life, spending time playing games with his nephew and delighting in moments with his nieces and nephews.

Nathan’s affection for those close to him was apparent in the way he spoke about and cared for his sisters, Kelsey and Tayla, and in the special bond he shared with his dog, Nova. He is remembered by grandparents Mary and Richard Augustin; sisters Taylor Rhodes and Kelsey Cool; brother Tod Rhodes; and a network of aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who were like family to him. Those who knew him recall someone who cherished small traditions and created meaningful memories for his family.

A visitation and funeral service were held on June 17, 2023, at The Chapel of Peace – Marlan Gary Funeral Home, with interment at Mansfield Memorial Park. Nathan’s family asked for privacy and remembrance during their grieving, and his life is honored by the quiet ways he sought to care for and provide for those he loved.

Nathan’s life, though far too short, is remembered for its kindness, his ambition for a better future, and the real, lasting gestures of love he gave to his family.

Nathan was gone far too soon. May the love, memories, and moments connected to this life continue to be treasured, and may those mourning find comfort in remembering what mattered most.
