Remembering Morgan

A life held close in memory

Morgan Daniel Murphy, born September 12, 1989, in Fairmont, West Virginia, was a loving father and a steady, hardworking presence to those who knew him. Family was always central to Morgan’s life; his two daughters, Cheyenne Linn Murphy and Willa June Murphy, were described as the light of his life and the joy of every day. Friends and relatives remember him for his gentle nature, willingness to help others, and the small adventures he treasured with his girls — from park visits to slushies and time spent with family.

A 2008 graduate of East Fairmont High School, Morgan enjoyed athletics in his youth, competing in football and wrestling. Over the years he applied that same commitment to his work, holding roles with local employers including Shuck Construction, American Fence Company, and most recently United Parcel Service. Those who relied on him recall a dependable man who would step in when help was needed.

Morgan is survived by his mother, Katherine Sue Vincent; his father, Michael Lloyd Murphy; his twin brother, Patrick Owen Murphy; brother Adam Michael Murphy; sister Jessica Brooke (and her husband Brian Cutlip); his grandparents Kenneth Earl and Judith Ann Vincent; and other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandparents Lloyd Francis and Aladean Murphy and aunt Joyce Vincent. The family also noted Morgan’s close bond with his dog, Rooster.

Per his wishes, Morgan was cremated. Family and friends gathered at Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home in Fairmont for a Celebration of Life on October 22, 2022, to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were directed to a fund to help with funeral expenses and support his daughters.

Those who knew Morgan remember a practical, kind man who found his greatest purpose in caring for his children and supporting those around him. His warmth in ordinary moments — the quick smile, the readiness to help, the daily delights he shared with his daughters — is the legacy his family asks to be held close.
