Remembering Michael

A life held close in memory

Michael Daniel Savignano (July 1, 1957 – June 4, 2014) was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished the shoreline communities of Huntington and Woodmont. Born in Derby to Lillian (Deptula) Savignano and the late Frank Savignano Sr., Michael grew up in the Shelton area and graduated from Shelton High School. He went on to study at the General Motors Institute of Automotive Repair and later retired as co-owner of Frank Buick GMC Truck, where his work in the automotive world was a source of pride.

Family was central to Michael’s life. He is lovingly remembered by his children Danielle, Francesca, and Michael Jr., and by his grandchildren, who brought him great joy. Those who knew him recall his easygoing presence, a connection to the water and beaches near his home, and the quiet ways he showed care for family and friends in the Huntington and Woodmont neighborhoods.

Michael’s life reflected steady dedication—to his craft, his family, and the communities where he lived. His passing on June 4, 2014, left a deep sense of loss among relatives and neighbors who valued his friendship and steady character. He will be remembered for his role as a son, father, grandfather, and respected member of the local automotive community.

Services were arranged through James T. Toohey & Son Funeral Home in Shelton. Those who wish to honor Michael’s memory are encouraged to hold close the simple, meaningful parts of life he treasured: family gatherings, days by the water, and the company of those we love.
