Obituary

A formal remembrance

Michael "Big Mike" County (December 28, 1967 – January 23, 2017) was a man for whom family and faith were central. He loved spending time with his children and close family, and those who knew him often recall his steady presence and easy company. Known affectionately as "Big Mike," he cared deeply for those around him and found great meaning in everyday moments with loved ones.

Michael was a dependable worker who spent several years as a Domino's Pizza delivery driver. Colleagues described him as the backbone of the store — someone who took his responsibilities seriously and looked out for others, including trainees he helped onboard. Outside of work he was close to his family: he is survived by his loving companion Dominique Rogers; his mother Lee E. Brister; sisters Saundra Harris-Edge, Sabrina Jordan and Samantha Robinson; his sons Michael II and Dajon; his daughters Myeasha, Brittany, Kiara, Kierra, Kyra and Keyuna; and a grandson, Michael III, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Those who gathered to honor Michael remembered his faith and belief in a brighter day beyond this life. His memorial service brought together family, friends, coworkers and community members who came to celebrate his life and the care he showed to others. Friends and neighbors recalled his devotion to his children and the kindness he showed in the neighborhood, where he was often seen spending time with them.

Michael's life touched many small moments — the routines of work, the quiet joys of family gatherings, and the encouragement he offered to those he knew. He is remembered not for the way his life ended but for the roles he filled: father, companion, son, brother and friend. His memory lives on in the family he cherished and the community that mourned his passing.
