Remembering Michael

A life held close in memory

Michael Charles Lockridge, 56, of Indianapolis and formerly of Rushville, passed away on February 8, 2026. Born July 16, 1969, Michael was a devoted family member who treasured his connections to siblings, nieces, nephews and extended relatives. He is remembered by those who knew him for a gentle nature and the steady, unassuming kindness he offered to friends and family.

Michael was the son of the late Martha Jean (Bartlett) and John McKinley Lockridge. He is survived by his siblings Dianne (Richard) Miller, Lisa Lockridge, Clyde Smiley, Joe (Korie) Smiley, Cathy Smiley, Kim Sons, and John Lockridge, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins who will carry his memory forward. Family was central to Michael’s life; he found meaning in the everyday ties that bound him to those he loved.

Those who knew Michael recall his quiet presence and the way he showed care through small, steady acts—simple remembrances that speak to a life lived for others rather than for attention. In honoring him, family and friends ask that those who loved him light a candle or share a memory to keep his spirit close. At this time, no public services are planned.

Michael’s family extends thanks to those who have offered condolences and support during this difficult time. His memory will endure in the stories, the quiet moments and the love of the relatives who survive him.
