Melissa Seefert, 65, passed away on November 17, 2017. Those who knew her remember a generous, life-loving woman who delighted in family and friendship. Melissa's children and grandchildren were central to her world; she took great pleasure in family time and celebrations, and she is survived by her children Michael McLafferty, Nicholas McLafferty (Liane), and Jacob McLafferty (Ellen), as well as grandchildren who brought her much joy.
Born and raised in Minnesota, Melissa was described by family and friends as caring and vivacious — someone who brought energy and warmth to gatherings and who was quick to offer support when it was needed. She kept close ties with siblings and extended family, and her presence was a comfort to many in her community. Those who spent time with Melissa remember her generous spirit and the way she made ordinary moments feel special.
A memorial service to celebrate Melissa’s life was held at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapels in Columbia Heights on November 30, 2017. In keeping with the family’s wishes, memorials were preferred in lieu of flowers. Friends and relatives who wish to honor Melissa’s memory are encouraged to share remembrances with those she loved and to carry forward the kindness she showed in life.
