Obituary

A formal remembrance

Matthew Campbell Davis was born September 29, 1991, and is remembered for the bright spirit he shared with family and friends. A student of Marion-Franklin High School, Matthew balanced school life with work at Bob Evans in the Graceland area, where he was known as a friendly and dependable young employee.

Matthew was a loving son to Jackie Davis, and his family traces include biological parents Wanda Campbell and Tim Porter. He is also survived by his brother Anthony Davis as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who carried him in their hearts. Classmates and neighbors recall Matthew’s easy laugh and the way he could lift a room with his presence. Several messages left by friends and family describe him as caring, respectful, and someone who made others smile.

Those who gathered to honor Matthew held a funeral service on December 30, 2009, at Kimberly Parkway Church of God, with the family receiving friends beforehand. He was laid to rest at Glen Rest Memorial Estates, with arrangements entrusted to C. D. White & Son Funeral Home. The outpouring of condolences published around that time reflects a community that treasured his life and mourned his loss.

Though Matthew’s time among us was brief, the memories shared by family and classmates emphasize the kindness and warmth he offered every day. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, his laughter, and the small, everyday ways he supported those close to him. Matthew’s life is celebrated by those who loved him and by the many friends who keep his memory alive in stories, prayers, and acts of care.
