Remembering Mary
A life held close in memory
Mary Agnes Corneliusen of Warroad, Minnesota, was born January 26, 1957, in Minneapolis and carried a restless love of life and travel wherever she went. Known to friends and family simply as Mary or Grandma Mary, she was the youngest of three children and spent much of her life seeing the country and collecting stories — proudly having visited 48 of the 50 states. Those journeys and the people she met along the way became part of the generous, openhearted person she was.
Mary loved family fiercely. She was a mother to several children and a devoted grandmother to nine grandchildren, each of whom knew her for the warmth and indulgence that came so naturally to her. Her grandchildren described a grandma who delighted in spoiling them and whose face would light up at the sight of each child. Mary’s family remembers her as passionate and honest, sometimes to a fault, but always ready to help anyone in need.
Friends and relatives recall Mary as someone who lived hard and loved harder — generous with her time, unafraid to speak her mind, and quick to offer a hand. She formed deep bonds throughout her life and was cherished for the laughter and stories she shared. Though she made her home in Warroad, Mary’s life had been shaped by many places and experiences, and those travels became part of the fabric of who she was.
Mary’s funeral service was held on September 7, 2023, at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad. She is survived by her children Jonah (Angela Robinson) Isaacson, Allannah (Tyler Stoskopf) Meyers, Ciara (Tyler Bassingthwaite) Meyers, step-son Logan Corneliusen; siblings Anton Kos and Terry Kos; and her grandchildren Lola, Jordyn, Liam, Felix, Thor, Indy, Calvin, and Shiloh. She was preceded in death by her parents June and Anthony Kos, husband Keith Meyers, grandson Jakob Isaacson, and other relatives.
Mary’s family remembers her for her adventurous spirit, her generosity, and the clear delight she took in family life. She will be lovingly remembered for the joy she gave to those around her and the many stories she passed along to the next generation.
