Mark Sternin

Mark D. Sternin, Jr., born April 20, 1990, is remembered for his love of the outdoors, his family, and the simple joys of sports and time spent with loved ones. Raised in the Tonawanda area and a former resident of Newfane before moving to Tonawanda, Mark cherished wide open spaces and the activities that brought him closer to nature—snowboarding down winter hills, hiking summer trails, and hunting in the seasons he loved. He was also a loyal Buffalo Bills fan who enjoyed sharing games and team spirit with those close to him.

Mark’s family meant everything to him. He is lovingly survived by his parents, Mark “Dan” and Donna Sternin of Mesa, Arizona; his brothers Gregory (Stephanie) Sternin and Thomas G. Sternin; his sister, Alexandra Karis; his nephew Karson Karis; and his grandmothers Glenna Sternin and Margaret Dickey, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. Those who knew him remember a young man who valued family gatherings, quiet moments in nature, and the companionship of those nearest to him.

Friends and family gathered to celebrate Mark’s life at services held in the Tonawanda area. In keeping with the family’s wishes, memorial contributions were suggested to Ridgewood Bible Church Missions or the Wounded Warrior Project—causes chosen to honor Mark’s spirit of fellowship and support for others.

Though his life was cut far too short, Mark’s warmth, his enthusiasm for outdoor pursuits, and his devotion to family remain in the memories of those who loved him. He is remembered with affection and gratitude by his family and friends for the joy he brought into their lives.
