Remembering Mario
A life held close in memory
Mario “Fat” Harris Sr., born December 6, 1969, was a devoted husband, father and community member who passed away on January 15, 2022. A proud graduate of John McDonogh High School, Mario carried the Trojan spirit throughout his life and was a faithful member of Violet New Birth Ministries.
For many years Mario worked as a warehouse supervisor and truck driver, roles he took on with dependability and care. He was an active part of local social life as a loyal member of Sudan Social and Pleasure Club and Monogram Hunters, where friends remember his steady presence and warm company.
Family was central to Mario’s life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirleen Speed Anckle and John T. Harris, and by his brother Marquette Harris. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Kimberly; his children Brittany, Maya, Sabrina and Mario Jr.; grandsons Ethan and Zayden; sisters Vivian Harris and Deanna Speed; his in‑laws David Sr. and Laura Clayton; and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends whose lives he touched.
Those who knew Mario recall a man who cared for his family, honored his community ties, and found meaning in the everyday responsibilities he carried out for those he loved. Services were entrusted to Professional Funeral Service, Inc., and held privately at the family’s request.
Mario’s life was defined by steady work, cherished family relationships, and faith. He will be remembered by those who loved him for his loyalty, his presence in community life, and the small, enduring ways he supported the people around him.
