Luis Enrique Ibarra

Luis Enrique Ibarra (June 2, 1990 – April 20, 2016) was cherished for his deep devotion to family and his gift for bringing joy to those around him. Born in Bryan, Texas, Luis was the beloved son of Enrique and Teresa Ibarra and the elder brother to Anagabriel, Lorena and Rebeca. He found great pride and happiness in his role as a husband to Amanda and as a father to his son Anthony.

Family and music were central to Luis’s life. He carried a love of Mexican music—especially the songs of José José—that reflected the warmth of his heritage and the tenderness he showed to others. Those who knew him remember his ready smile, his sense of humor, and the way he made ordinary moments brighter for friends and family.

Luis grew up surrounded by a large extended family in Bryan. He is survived by his wife Amanda, their son Anthony, his parents Enrique and Teresa Ibarra, his three sisters, his grandfather Jesús Ibarra of Mexico City, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends who treasured him. He was preceded in death by grandparents Juan and Rosa Contreras and Antonia Ibarra Cabrera.

A Life Celebration was held at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan, with a funeral service at First Baptist Church and interment at Bryan City Cemetery. Those services reflected the love of a family and community that gathered to honor a young man whose life—though far too short—left a lasting impression on those who loved him.

Luis’s family remembers him as a spirited son of God and a person whose days were most meaningful when spent with the people he loved. While words cannot fully capture the light he brought to his family’s lives, his memory endures in the stories, music, and love that continue to bind those who mourn him. He will be lovingly remembered.
