Obituary
A formal remembrance
Louis Felder, 50, was a devoted family man and a familiar, generous presence in Stamford’s Orthodox Jewish community. As director of operations at Hartford Distributors, Louis brought energy and leadership to his work and was respected by colleagues for his commitment and warmth. He met his wife, Helen, on a blind date and married her eight months later; together they raised three children, Gabriel, Stephanie and Samantha, who remembered their father as a loving and engaged parent.
Friends and neighbors recall Louis as larger-than-life in temperament and big-hearted in deed — someone who loved activity and family time, whether playing basketball with his children or helping friends in need. He was an active member of his local synagogue and took part in community life, where his ready laugh and generosity made him well-loved.
Hundreds of mourners gathered at Congregation Agudath Sholom to honor Louis’s memory, and he was laid to rest at Independent Lodge Cemetery in Darien. Those who knew him remember a man who lived fully for his family and community: steady in his care for others, joyful in ordinary moments, and someone whose absence is deeply felt. Louis’s family, faith community and friends continue to honor his life and the many small, lasting ways he gave to others.
