Remembering Leo

A life held close in memory

Leonardo “Leo” Campos Jr. (October 2, 1977 – August 3, 2019) brought warmth and quiet loyalty to the people who knew him. Born in San Juan, Texas, Leo remained close to his roots even after moving to El Paso a decade before his passing. He was a graduate of PSJA High School, where he took part in both the soccer and football teams—years that stayed with him as a source of pride and fond memories.

Leo was a devoted son and a brother who cared deeply for his family. He is remembered by his mother, Ilda Campos, and his brothers Jesus and David, along with other relatives and friends who treasured his steady presence. Those who knew Leo recall a man who valued time with family, who carried the community ties of his hometown with him, and who quietly brought kindness to everyday moments.

Visitation and services were held in both the Rio Grande Valley and El Paso to honor the places and people that mattered most to him. His family chose cremation, and friends and relatives gathered to celebrate his life, share memories, and support one another.

Though his life ended far too soon, Leo’s memory endures in the stories told by his family, the teammates who played beside him at PSJA, and the neighbors and friends in El Paso and San Juan who remember his dependable, unassuming good nature. He is lovingly remembered and missed by those who called him son, brother, cousin, and friend.
