Larry Gene Christy Jr.

Larry Gene Christy Jr. (March 21, 1997 – September 11, 2022) is remembered by family and friends for his warm nature, love of the outdoors, and devotion to his young son, Jaxon. Born in Bakersfield and raised in the Tehachapi/Boron area, Larry grew up enjoying sports and the freedom of the open road—fishing, camping, off-roading, and riding his motorcycle were among his favorite pastimes.

A 2015 graduate of Mojave River Academy, Larry became a father that same year and cherished his role as dad to Jaxon James Christy. Those who knew him recall a compassionate, selfless man who often put others first and carried a generous spirit into his work and family life. He applied his skills in construction—doing concrete and block work—and held employment with local businesses including Benz Sanitation and World Wind Services.

Larry was preceded in death by his sister Naomi Lynn Christy and two grandfathers. He is survived by his son Jaxon James Christy; his parents, Larry Gene Christy Sr. and Symantha Leigh Christy; siblings and extended family who will carry forward his memory. Family and friends gathered to honor Larry’s life with visitation, a chapel service, and a graveside ceremony at Tehachapi Public Cemetery – Westside. Wood Family Funeral Service assisted the family with arrangements.

Though his life ended far too soon, those who loved Larry remember him for his generosity, his quiet strength, and the light he brought to ordinary days—on a fishing trip, by a campfire, or simply spending time with his son. His memory lives on in the hearts of family and friends who recall him as a caring father and a man with an enormous heart.
