Remembering Kyndra

A life held close in memory

Kyndra Kay Swift (August 1, 1970 – July 13, 2022) brought laughter and stories to those around her. Born in Muncie, Indiana, Kyndra was known for her sense of humor and her talent for telling a good tale—small moments of joy she offered freely to family, friends, and coworkers. She worked as the housekeeping supervisor at Brookside Haven Care Center, where her steady presence and dedication to care helped create a comfortable environment for residents and staff alike.

Kyndra treasured relationships that sustained her. She is survived by her boyfriend, Sonny Wilson; her sister, Karla Taylor (Michael); her best friend, Dawn Mayse; her niece, Renae Perdue; nephews Bobby Russell and Shane Smith; and a circle of cousins who remembered her warmth and quick smile. Those who knew her recall her ready humor, the stories she loved to tell, and the small acts of kindness that defined her everyday life.

Family entrusted Elm Ridge Funeral Home & Memorial Park with arrangements and chose private graveside services to honor her memory. In the quiet of those moments, loved ones celebrated the simple, human gifts Kyndra offered: laughter, companionship, and a steady hand in work and in life.

Kyndra’s life was more than the hours she worked or the roles she held; she is remembered for the ways she brightened ordinary days and for the stories she left behind. Those who wish to share memories or expressions of sympathy were invited to do so through Elm Ridge Funeral Home’s guestbook, so the recollections of her life could comfort one another and preserve the picture of who she was.

Her family and friends continue to hold her in their thoughts — remembering a woman whose humor and storytelling brought people together and whose steady care for others left a lasting impression.
