A life held close in memory

Kevin Ray Fortner, 27, of Waterloo, South Carolina, passed away Friday, April 10, 2026. Born in Spartanburg, Kevin was known to family and friends as a kind, helpful young man who enjoyed time on the water and the simple pleasures of life near the lake. He worked for Greenville Fencing and took pride in his work and in being there for those he loved.

Kevin is survived by his parents, Dennis Ray Fortner, Jr. and Lorraine Carol Woody Tucker; brothers Ronnie Lee Fortner (Renee) and Branden James Fortner (Kayla); grandparents Michael and Alice Wilkie, and Dennis Ray Fortner, Sr. and Gail Fortner; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews who cherished his company and his easygoing presence. He was predeceased by his brother Christopher Daniel Fortner.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Kevin’s life and to offer support to one another. The family will receive visitors Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Stribling Funeral Home in Duncan, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Todd Fortner officiating. The family has asked that remembrances honor the places and people Kevin loved.

Those who knew Kevin remember him for his warmth, dependable nature, and the joy he found in everyday moments. His passing leaves a space in the lives of his family and friends that will be gently filled with memories of his laughter and the times he spent at the lake. In lieu of flowers, the funeral home listing notes the family’s arrangements and provides options for those who wish to send condolences or plant a tree in his memory.
