Obituary
A formal remembrance
Kerilyn Lowe Johnson (February 29, 1972 – June 20, 2024) brought music and kindness into every room she entered. A professional singer and theater performer, Kerilyn shared her love of voice and performance across decades — including more than 27 years teaching voice as an adjunct at Brigham Young University. Her students remember a teacher who combined high musical standards with genuine care for each person’s progress.
Born in Provo, Utah, to Dallas and Suana Lowe, Kerilyn built a life centered on family and the arts. She was a devoted mother of six children, a presence in her local community, and someone who offered her talents for concerts, local theater and gatherings. Friends and neighbors recall her vibrant personality, ready smile and steady encouragement.
Kerilyn’s musical gifts were both professional and personal: her performances and teaching left a lasting imprint on stages and classrooms alike. Colleagues and students have described her as generous with her time and patient in mentorship, helping young singers find their voice while nurturing a welcoming environment.
Her sudden passing on June 20, 2024, was met with an outpouring of support from friends, students and community members. A candlelight vigil at Art Dye Park gathered many who wanted to honor Kerilyn’s life and the example she set. Community efforts to assist her family reflected the deep regard many held for her.
Kerilyn’s life was defined by artistry, dedication to teaching, and love for her family. She will be remembered for the music she made, the students she guided, and the warmth she shared with those around her. Those who knew her carry forward the lessons she taught — in music and in life — as a living tribute to her spirit.
