Remembering Keelin
A life held close in memory
Keelin Wayne Kennedy (November 11, 2004 – June 25, 2023) is remembered for the bright, ordinary moments that made up his short life: the steady loyalty he showed his family, the friendships he carried close, and the everyday hopes of an 18-year-old from Lawton, Oklahoma. A son to Kevin and Kari Kennedy, Keelin was part of a loving family that included siblings and extended relatives who cherished his laughter and companionship. He grew up in the Lawton area and was known to those who loved him as someone who mattered deeply to his circle of friends and family.
Family was central to Keelin’s life. He is survived by his parents, Kevin Kennedy and Kari Kennedy (Early); siblings Kristopher Zachorie Kennedy, Kayla Kennedy (Devin Pollard), Jalecia Kennedy and Jalaya Kennedy; grandmothers Mary Kennedy and Mary Sullivan; and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins who remember him fondly. Close friends cited on memorial pages recall him as a steady presence in their lives and one of their trusted companions.
Services were handled by Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home, where family and friends came together to celebrate Keelin’s life and offer support to one another. Funeral gatherings provided space for stories, quiet remembrance, and shared grief as the community rallied around his family.
Keelin’s passing left a hole in the hearts of those who knew him, and his memory endures in the everyday things his family and friends recall — a preferred song, a joke shared at the right moment, or the simple comfort of being present for one another. Though his time was brief, Keelin’s life mattered to many, and those who loved him continue to honor his memory with the tenderness and care he inspired.
In the face of this loss, his family has been supported by their community as they continue to grieve and remember Keelin for who he was: a son, sibling, friend, and young man whose life held promise and meaning to those closest to him.
