Kathryn Fox Maxwell

Kathryn “Kathy” Fox Maxwell, 43, was remembered for her quiet warmth, devotion to family, and commitment to children’s education and faith. A former teacher at Alma Easom Elementary, Kathy loved working with youngsters and carried that same patience and attentiveness into raising her own children. She volunteered extensively at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church and in her children’s schools, investing her time in their spiritual and educational growth. Kathy and her husband made a nurturing home centered on love and family life.

Kathy is survived by her parents, John D. and Henrianne C. Fox of Fayetteville; her brother J. Byran Fox and his wife Stephanie of Big Stone Gap, Virginia; her sister Kerry F. Garlington and husband Brent of Fayetteville; and her paternal grandmother, Sallie B. Fox. Her life was marked by caring service to children and steady involvement in community and church activities.

Friends and neighbors recall Kathy for the kindness she showed to others and the quiet way she supported her family’s many activities. In honoring her memory, the family asked that memorials be made to the Snyder Memorial Baptist Church Youth Fund or the Village Christian Academy Athletic Fund—causes that reflected Kathy’s love of children and education.

Kathy’s family held services at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church where friends and the wider community gathered to celebrate her life and the tender, steady care she gave to those around her. Her commitment to children, church, and home remain the enduring parts of her legacy.
