Karón Barrow

Karón Lasha Bernice Barrow, known lovingly as “KK,” brought warmth and a ready smile to everyone who knew her. Born January 28, 1989, in Teaneck, New Jersey, Karón moved to Shelby and was a 2008 graduate of Shelby High School, where classmates remembered her as a social young woman who encouraged others and earned the senior superlative “Most likely to host a talk show.”

A proud and devoted mother, Karón treasured her two daughters and filled her days with the ordinary acts of care and affection that define family life. She worked at the Ruby Tuesday in Shelby and was an active member of New Ellis Chapel Baptist Church, where those close to her recall a generous spirit and a habit of greeting people with a bright smile.

Karón is remembered by her mother, Karon Barrow; her father, David Pegeese Jr.; her daughters Ja'Kayla and Kallie Wilson; brothers Jayron Barrow, Desmond Pegeese, David Smith-Pegeese and Davon Pegeese; and a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who treasured her presence. Those who knew her often spoke of her friendly, outgoing nature and the kindness she showed to others.

Her funeral service was held at New Ellis Baptist Church and she was laid to rest at Sunset Cemetery. Family, friends and community members gathered to celebrate the life of a young woman whose smile and caring nature left a lasting impression. Though her life was far too short, Karón’s warmth, her love for her children, and the small, generous ways she lived continue to be remembered by those she loved.

In honoring Karón’s memory, loved ones invited remembrances and tributes at the funeral home. Her family’s request for private moments of remembrance was respected by the community who wished her daughters comfort and support in the years to come.
