Obituary

A formal remembrance

Kalee Nicoline Jacobson Scolatti (January 25, 1981 – May 6, 2015) is remembered for her fierce love of family, her warmth, and a bright professional spirit. Born and raised in Missoula to Kathleen and Bob Jacobson, Kalee grew into a devoted mother and an ambitious journalist who followed her passion to the University of Montana’s School of Journalism. After graduating with honors in television production in 2005, she joined the KTMF/ABC‑Fox Montana news team and built a steady career there, earning the respect of colleagues and the community. In January 2015 she was promoted to news director, a milestone she reached after nearly a decade of committed service.

Kalee was a proud mother of three daughters — Izabele, Marly, and Sophia — and family was the center of her life. Those who knew her recall a contagious laugh, a ready smile, and a tenacious spirit that carried her through challenges and successes alike. She loved music (Pearl Jam was a favorite), enjoyed good food and wine, and took pleasure in simple comforts like a fresh baguette and time with loved ones. Kalee’s journey included early motherhood, completing her GED, and returning to higher education — a path that showcased her determination and resilience.

Beloved by a wide circle of family and friends, Kalee is survived by her daughters; her parents, Kathleen Vavrovsky and Bob Jacobson (and Thomas Plovanic); her brother Chad Jacobson; her grandmother, Gladys Jacobson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Her workplace family remembered her as kind, intelligent, and passionate — someone who cared deeply about her craft and the people around her.

Her family treasured her favorite line from Winnie‑the‑Pooh: “Promise me you'll never forget me, because if I thought you would, I'd never leave.” Those words echo the affection and memories she left behind. Donations in her memory were requested to support her daughters’ care, reflecting the community’s wish to help them carry forward Kalee’s love and legacy.

Kalee’s life — as a mother, daughter, sister, colleague and friend — is remembered for its warmth, determination, and the impact she made on those closest to her. Though her life was far too short, the care she gave to her children and the devotion she brought to her work continue to speak to who she was.
