Remembering Joshua

A life held close in memory

Joshua Christopher Nicholas Nance was a loving son, brother, and devoted caregiver whose presence brought warmth and light to family and friends. Born August 10, 1992, Joshua carried an infectious smile and gentle spirit throughout his life. He discovered a love of sports early on, enjoying wrestling and boxing as a child, and he kept that active, playful energy with him into adulthood.

Joshua delighted in sharing good food and had a real passion for cooking. He took pleasure in preparing meals for his family and showing off the dishes he loved. Travel and beaches inspired him, and he treasured the chance to explore new places. Quiet moments found him with a fantasy novel in hand, and he had a soft spot for animals — especially his bearded dragon, Polo.

Above all, Joshua was family-centered. He was known for his faith, his readiness to encourage others, and his deep devotion to his loved ones. He spent many hours caring for his grandfather, whom he lovingly called “Papa,” and took pride in being a steady presence and advocate for his siblings. Those who knew him remember a caring listener who offered support without judgment.

Joshua’s attention to detail showed in small, telling ways: he kept his surroundings tidy and appreciated order, often acting out of practical care for those around him. He leaves behind cherished memories shared with his father Robert (Sonji), sisters Latrisha, Bryanna, and Kiziah, brother Taylor, close friend Joseph “Jojo,” and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Though his life ended far too soon on January 21, 2024, Joshua’s warmth, faith, and steadfast love for family endure in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be remembered for his joyful laugh, his nurturing spirit, and the small everyday kindnesses that made him beloved. May his memory continue to be a blessing to all who loved him.
